Want to get into Stand-Up Paddling but not sure where to start? Own a board and feeling guilty you are not out there enjoying it regularly? The Harcourts Beach Series is a great opportunity to get into Stand-Up Paddling and make it part of your weekly exercise regime. We’ll show you how!

Stand Up-Paddle (SUP) racing is an exciting sport and is the perfect whole body work-out. It improves balance, co-ordination, strength, is stress reducing and invigorating.

Four 1km lap courses will be used in 2017-18 to provide SUPers variety each week, and will be chosen according to wind and weather forecasts. Courses will be notified in the weekly enews and confirmed on event day on the ‘Course Info’ board.

Event Safety and Rules

  • Event Rules and Safety Guidelines can be found HERE and at the event base each week
  • Leashes are compulsory for all stand-up paddlers
  • Series points will be deducted or a participant disqualified if maker buoys are not rounded correctly (ie. a corner is cut)
  • Series points may be deducted if stand-up paddlers do not cross the finish line with their paddle


Safety Briefing Times and Locations

For your safety it is compulsory for all participants to attend their event briefing each week.

  • Junior Events (run & swim only) – Takapuna Reserve at 5.45pm
  • Adult Events – Takapuna Reserve at 6.20pm

It is important that participants check their course map on the event base info board as these will change each week.

Courses will be briefly explained in the Event Safety Briefings but please make sure you are familiar with your course before your event. If you are unsure please ask a Beach Series volunteer before your safety briefing.
